Ana de Granada (Ana Maria
Fernandez Gonzalez) began studying Spanish dance at the age of 9 as is
customary for all young ladies in Andalucia. She first started learning
Sevillans, a regional folk dance with Maruja. From there she was seduced
by Flamenco and studied with Eva Espivel. She augmented her knowledge
adding classical Spanish dance with the world famous dancer Maite Galan
who incorporates all three forms in her dancing. She attended the conservatory
APDE in Madrid specializing in choreography although her specialty is
improvisation.
During her time as a student she performed
in Festivals all over Andalusia and near by provinces. In 1999 she opened
her own dance studio in the center of Granada where she collaborates with
University of Granada teaching dance as part of the Spanish cultural program
offered to foreigners. She is presently teaching for ISA (International
Studies Abroad, CEGRE (The international program for the University of
Illinois, Champagne-Urbana) and Iberia s.a. from Tokyo that specialized
in intensive classes of dance for the Japanese. |
